What is Catherine's Process?
Catherine Brown is a Colorado abstract artist working in acrylic and mixed media. Inspired by travel, everyday landscapes, and the memories that connect us to place, she creates vibrant, layered paintings that celebrate both the familiar and the unexpected.
Rather than focusing solely on Colorado's iconic mountain scenery, Catherine finds beauty in overlooked moments—a family of tomatoes growing in her garden, the expansive eastern plains, or the colors and music of New Orleans.
Her intuitive process embraces bold color, expressive lines, texture, and the "ghosts" of previous layers, allowing each painting to evolve naturally and tell its own story. A graduate of artist Nicholas Wilton's Creative Visionary Program and a member of the Art2Life Academy, Catherine has exhibited her work in galleries throughout Colorado. Through her paintings, she invites viewers to reconnect with their own memories, discover joy in unexpected places, and see the world from a fresh perspective.
