Although she now works primarily in acrylic and mixed media, Alene Nitzky began her artistic journey with pastels after being inspired by the colorful and rugged scenery of the southwest.
Her abstract work captures the fragile nature of our world. She draws inspiration from landscapes where she runs, hikes and travels.
As a 40-year ultradistance runner, Alene has explored thousands of miles, allowing her to see the landscape from various vantage points: both up close and in panoramic views. Locations of inspiration include Death Valley, the Sonoran Desert, New Mexico, the Black Hills, the Rocky Mountains the coastal landscapes of the Pacific Coast.
